One EHS Wrestler Advances to Sectional

One Effingham High School wrestler was able to advance in regional competition at Robinson.

Jon Perry, wrestling at 145 pounds, placed third to advance to the Vandalia Sectional. Perry won with a pin at 0:44 over I. King of Carmi, then lost 4 to 11 J. Hermann of Robinson. From that point, Perry won four straight matches, with a pin at 2:41 over Rohdemann of Shelbyville, with a pin at 1:08 over Hiett of Fairfield, by decision 10-3 over Jones of Monticello, and by decision 9-2 over Warner of Cumberland.

As far as the other EHS wrestlers, Erika White at 120 pounds was pinned twice; Colin Marschewski at 138 pounds lost on a decision and was pinned; Zac Slifer at 152 pounds was pinned and then lost on a decision; Edgar Castillo at 160 pounds was pinned twice; Wyatt Sparks finished fourth at 170 pounds with a pin over Staton of Carmi, was pinned, pinned Alexander of Monticello, and was pinned; Zach Worman at 182 pounds won on a pin over Oxford of Carmi and then was pinned twice; and Marcus Hites at 285 pounds pinned Gonzalez of Fairfield, was pinned, won on pins over Poundstone of Monticello and Boughan of Lawrenceville, and then was pinned.
