Big Day for Avery Braunecker

It's Senior Day for the University of Louisville swimming and diving team, meaning it's a big day for Effingham's Avery Braunecker.

Braunecker is one of 18 seniors on the Louisville squad to be recognized ahead of their meet this afternoon against Indiana.

Avery joined Louisville after a stellar high school career. She was a three-time IHSA state champion and four-time runner-up. She also was an Olympic Trial qualifier in the 50-free. 

As a junior, Braunecker qualified to the NCAA Championships. As a sophomore and junior, she was recognized for her work in the pool and in the classroom as a member of the All-ACC Academic Team.

Braunecker is also a three-time high school Academic All-American.

Avery is the daughter of Matt and Elizabeth Braunecker of Effingham.
