The Winnipeg Jets say defenseman Dustin Byfuglien underwent ankle surgery without consulting the team. Byfuglien was suspended without pay after failing to report to training camp in September and may not return to the team this season. The Jets also announced that forward Mark Letestu will be out at least six months due to an inflammation of the heart muscle.
