NHL Suspends Kane, Season Set To Open

The NHL has suspended San Jose Sharks left wing Evander Kane for three games for abusing an official. The incident took place during the Sharks’ final preseason game on Sunday in which Kane was ejected after shoving an official that had tackled him to the ice.


Wild's Pateryn Undergoes Surgery

Minnesota Wild defenseman Greg Pateryn has undergone surgery on a bilateral core muscle and will be out about six more weeks. Pateryn missed most of training camp due to the injury.


Stempniak Retires From NHL

Forward Lee Stempniak has retired from the NHL after playing for 10 teams in 14 seasons. Stempniak broke in with the St. Louis Blues in 2005 and spent four seasons with the team.
