Area Drivers Pick Up Wins at Jasper Co. Fair

NEWTON -- Area harness racing drivers picked up victories Friday and Saturday at the Jasper County Fair.

In Friday's action, Darla Martin Lohman took Ashlees Spur to a win in the Big 10 2-Year-Old Pace. Martin guided Ashlees Spur to the victory in 2:06.

Randall Finn, Effingham County Fair's winningest driver, took a victory behind Madoff in 2:00.3. The pair won the Topline 3-Year-Old & Up Pace, Division Two.

Ronnie Gillespie, Wyatt Avenatti and Paul Cavett all claimed two wins Saturday.

Gillespie won the Topline 3-Year-Old Trot, Division Two behind Majistic Caprice. The pair crossed the finish line with a time of 2:02.1. Gillespie then picked up back-to-back wins by taking the Topline 3-Year-Old & Up Pace, Division One. Prettyfaceuglyways won with a time of 2:01.3.

Avenatti was a winner behind Cinder Norma in the Topline 3-Year-Old & Up Trot, Division One. Avenatti and Cinder Norma won in 2:02.3. Avenatti then drove Rockn' With T to the win in the Maiden Pace, Division One in 2:02.3.

Cavett claimed the Topline 3-Year-Old & Up Pace, Division Three behind Lilys Real Boy in 1:59. Cavett then guided Mr Dock Johnsoniii to a win in the Maiden Pace, Division Two in 2:05.1.

Then in Satuday's action, Freddie Patton Jr. nabbed two victories. He won behind Frontier Manard in the Big 10 3-Year-Old Colt Trot in 2:08.1. He then guided Frontier Muffler to victory in the Big 10 3-Year-Old Colt Pace in 2:02..

Gillespie added to his two wins Friday with a victory behind Lous Silver Star Saturday in the IHHA 3-Year-Old and Up Trot. The pair went across the finish line in 2:02.
