Sir Winston, a 10-1 longshot, claimed the Belmont Stakes by a length over field favorite Tacitus Saturday to finish out the Triple Crown races.

In a very odd year, the Triple Crown was a mixture of strange happenings. The Kentucky Derby was claimed by Maximum Security who was then disqualified for swerving into the path of War of Will and Long Range Toddy.

That gave Country House, a 65-1 longshot, the win. But, Country House didn't run in the Preakness due to contracting a virus. So, there went any hopes of a Triple Crown winner.

It was the first time since 1951 that the first four horses who crossed the finish line at the Derby, did not compete at the Preakness.

The Preakness was claimed by War of Will. Tacitus, who took third in the Derby, was the favorite for the Belmont Stakes. But Sir Winston didn't care who was the favorite and crossed the finish line first.

And that's just how the Triple Crown went this season with three different winners.
