T-town Headed To State Bass Tourney

Teutopolis High School captured second place in the Bass Fishing Sectional at Forbes Lake recently and will be heading to the State Bass Fishing Tournament this Friday and Saturday at Carlyle Lake.

Patoka #1 was the team champion at the sectional with 8 pounds, 4 ounces followed by Teutopolis #1 8 pounds, 1 ounce, Carlyle #2 8 pounds, 0 ounces, South Central #2 6 pounds, 1 ounce, Newton #1 5 pounds, 9 ounces, Flora #1 2 pounds, 12 ounces, Teutopolis #2 1 pound, 1/2 ounce and Wayne City #2 1 pound 0 ounces.

The top three teams, Patoka, Teutopolis and Carlyle advanced while South Central is an alternate.

Members of the Wooden Shoes team are Kendall Tabbert, Hunter Sandschafer and Drew Pals. Head Coach is Jeff Niebrugge and Driver is Corey Sandschafer.

Members of the South Central squad are Kaleb Lacey, Sam Rubin, Jacob Hanks and Cameron Brandt. Head Coach is Gary Payne and Driver is Avery Davis.

The State Tourney is this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

State Final Schedule will be as follows:

Thursday, May 16, 7-11 a.m.Safety checks for boats with pre-fishing starting immediately after the boat has been safety checked. Safety checks will be done on a first come, first serve basis.

5:30 p.m.Safety Meeting for Coaches and Participants, Carlyle High School. Based on the Pre-tournament draw for release, competing boats will be placed in one of the three flights for the purposes of the boat’s return in each day of the tournament.  Each flight will consist of approximately one-third of the total number of boats participating in the state finals.  Boats will be released in order of the pre-tournament draw on day 1 of the tournament and in reverse order of the draw on day 2.

Friday, May 17. 6-6:30 a.m. Check in; 7 a.m. Release of boats; 3 p.m. Boats 1-22 and all Unified Boats return to docks; 3:15 p.m. Boats 23-44 return to docks; 3:30 p.m. Boats 45-66 return to docks.

Saturday, May 18, 6:00 to 6:30 a.m. Check in 7 a.m. Release of boats. 3 p.m. Boats 45-66 and all Unified Boats return to docks; 3:15 p.m. Boats 23-44 return to docks; 3:30 p.m. Boats 1-22 return to docks; 4:30 p.m. awards
