Effingham St. Anthony Junior High won the Illinois Elementary School Association Class A Scholastic Bowl Regional, hosted by Effingham Sacred Heart Wednesday.

After a bye in round one of the competition, St. Anthony defeated North Clay (Louisville) in round two, 270-125. In the third round, the Bullpups won over Sacred Heart, 205-130. And, in the championship, St. Anthony defeated South Central, 200-135.

Scoring for St. Anthony were Joanna Mitchell with 140 tossup points; Calvin Sudkamp wtih 70; Anthony Kreke and Ashley Dorris each with 30; Elliot Frisbie with 20 and Kolten Lange and Carson Fallert with 10 points apiece. Also competing for St. Anthony were Maggie Broeker Wright, Cailey Dorris, Madison Hoene, Mac Levin, Christian Meyer, Evan Meyer, Max Seachrist and Greer Weis. The team is coached by Roberta Meyer and Angie Tkachuck.

Sectional play will be hosted by St. Anthony this coming Monday.
