Carl Becker Honored at Effingham County Fair

Carl Becker, longtime harness racing announcer, was honored at the Effingham County Fairgrounds during the harness racing Wednesday. ALTAMONT -- Longtime race announcer Carl Becker was honored Wednesday at the Effingham County Fair.

Becker entered the Harness Racing Hall of Fame this year in the Communicators Corner. He called his first race professionally in July of 1964.

Becker was presented with assorted gifts including a blanket, a plaque and a painted portrait.
