Cumberland Wrestlers Compete at State

Three Cumberland High School wrestlers competed at the Class 1A State Wrestling Championships Thursday.

Konnir Hinz was the lone Pirate to advance in winner bracket action. Hinz defeated Peyton Keeffer from Lena-Winslow with a fall in 6:32 in the 145 pound division.

Hinz advances today to face Daniel Jezik of Coal City who had downed Rueben Cantu of Knoxville.

In the 138 pound category, Michael Carpenter lost to Joe Eads of Morrison with a fall in :32.

Tristan Overvig competed in the 182 pound division and fell to Nate Schultz of Savana West Carroll, with a fall in 3:28.

Carpenter and Overvig will see whether they compete in wrestlebacks today.
