Friday's Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse Race Results

ALTAMONT -- Jorge Collazo Jr. is going to be one tired jockey after this day is through. Collazo wrapped up his third jockey title at the Effingham County Fair Friday as thoroughbreds and quarterhorses took the track.

Collazo captured victories in the exciting Illinois Bred four year old and up race when Thunder Buck and Gost Plower tied in a dead heat. He then won with Sleek Pirate in the Five Furlong Open and finished out the day on Oh My Posh in the One Mile Open. Then it was pack up and head to Fairmount Park where he'll be riding in races tonight.

The fight for the jockey award was headed Carl Dodd's way as he claimed the second race of the day aboard Bold Enough in the 3-Year-Olds, Five Furlongs. Dodd guided Bold Enough to the victory in 57 1/5 seconds. Dodd had won the last two titles.

Dodd then won aboard Pirates On Line taking the Six Furlong for four-year-olds and up in 1:15. He was injured in that race and did not compete the rest of the afternoon.

Mike James was also in the running with two wins aboard Imer in the 2-Year-Old, Five Furlongs, the opening race of the day. James took Imer to a three-length victory in 1:01. James then claimed the 3-year-olds and up, 220 yards aboard Aces Dash N By Hawl. Aces Dashing By Yawl won by a head in nine seconds flat and became the winningest quarterhorse at the Effingham County Fair with four victories.

The seventh race, the Open 1/2 Mile went to Paddlewheel Mary with Noah Cruz guiding the way in 49 seconds flat.

Owner Stacey Holsapple of Greenup picked up three victories on the day. He won with Pirates On Line, Oh My Posh and Thunder Buck who was in a dead heat with Gost Plower.
