Blackhawks Down Blues, Get Back In Series

(Chicago, IL) -- Corey Crawford stopped all 34 shots he faced to power the Blackhawks in a 2-0 win over the Blues in Game Three of their best-of-seven series from United Center. Jonathan Toews scored within the first five minutes of the game while Marcus Kruger added an empty-net tally with about 20 seconds to play. Chicago still trails in the series, two games to one. Ryan Miller made 23 stops for St. Louis, which won the first two games of the series on home ice. The Blackhawks will host Game Four on Wednesday.

Blues captain David Backes was not in the lineup against the Blackhawks last night. Backes sustained an upper-body injury on a hit from Chicago defenseman Brent Seabrook Saturday. That hit landed Seabrook a three-game suspension  Backes made the trip, but did not play.

 

Penguins Rally To Top Blue Jackets

(Columbus, OH) -- The Penguins scored three unanswered goals in the third period to swipe a 4-3 victory from the Blue Jackets in Game Three of their best-of-seven series from Nationwide Arena.  Brandon Sutter, Lee Stempniak and Olli Maatta gave Pittsburgh the lead with tallies within two-and-a-half minutes of each other. Brooks Orpik also scored while Paul Martin and Beau Bennett had two assists each.  Marc-Andre Fleury made 17 saves for the Pens, who take a 2-1 series lead. Boone Jenner and Jack Johnson scored in the first for Columbus while Cam Atkinson found the back of the net in the third period. Sergei Bobrovsky made 37 saves for the Jackets, who will host Game Four on Wednesday.


Wild Edge Avalanche In OT, Avoid Deep Hole

(St. Paul, MN) -- Mikael Granlund lit the lamp just over five minutes into overtime to send the Wild to a 1-0 win over the Avalanche in Game Three of their best-of-seven series from the Xcel Energy Center. Darcy Kuemper made 22 saves for Minnesota, which still trails in the series two games to one. The Wild will host Game Four on Thursday. Semyon Varlamov was spectacular in goal for Colorado, halting 45 shots in defeat. The Avs won the first two of the series on home ice.


Stars Blank Ducks, Get Back In Series

(Dallas, TX) -- The Stars scored once in each period while Kari Lehtonen made 37 saves in a 3-0 win over the Ducks in Game Three of their best-of-seven series from American Airlines Center. Jamie Benn scored in the first period while Valeri Nichushkin lit the lamp in the second. Ryan Garbutt capped the scoring in the final period for Dallas, which still trails 2-1 in the series. Frederik Andersen made 19 stops for Anaheim. The Stars will host Game Four of the series on Wednesday.
