Effingham's Max Seachrist finished second.

TAYLORVILLE -- Effingham High School captured seventh at the Taylorville Boys Golf Invitational while Effingham St. Anthony claimed seventh place at the Prep Tour Showcase Thursday.

Jacksonville won the team championship with 320 followed by Mount Zion second with 321. Effingham finished seventh with 334.

Carlinville's Tate Duckels captured first place individually with a 74 while Effingham's Max Seachrist was second with a 75. Following in the top 10 were Lex Kuykendall (Charleston) 76, Colton Barr (Jacksonville) 76, Aidan Barnett (Mount Zion) 77, Will Seman (Williamsville) 77, Thatcher Frye (Jacksonville) 78, Madden Johnson (Mattoon) 79, Hudsen Meister (Charleston) 79 and Colten Weiss (Hillsboro) 79.

"We shot our lowest 18 hole score in a few years on a challenging golf course with a 334," said EHS Coach Jeff  Schafer. "Three of our counting scores were from new additions to our program.

"Max made a nice early statement finishing with a 75 and a second place finish. And, freshman Jude Traub had a solid 81 to start his career. Brody had a rough finish after playing great all day and ended with an 86. We saw four of our conference opponents as well and we are within 10-12 shots of them all at this point. We have a month and a half to try to narrow that gap."

The Hearts are back in action Friday as St. Anthony hosts an invitational at Indian Springs.
