EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE Director of Athletics Andrew Gavin has announced a contract extension for golf Head Coach Derrick Brown. The four-year extension takes Brown through the 2027 season.

"We're thrilled to have Coach Brown's continued leadership atop of our men's golf program for years to come," Gavin said. "Coach Brown's commitment and mentorship guides our student-athletes to achieve success on and off the course."

The 2023-24 season marks Brown's 15th leading the Cougar men's program. From August 2022 to April 2023, he also served as the Cougars' Interim Director of Athletics.

The Cougars enjoyed their best-ever finish at the Ohio Valley Conference championship in 2023. SIUE finished second in stroke play, to advance to match play for the second straight season. The Cougars then defeated Southern Indiana before falling to Little Rock in the Championship Final.

"I want to thank Chancellor Minor and Andrew Gavin for the opportunity to continue coaching the game I love here at SIUE," Brown said. "I am proud of what our hardworking teams have accomplished over the past 14 years, and I'm excited to continue those successes in the coming years. SIUE is a special place for my family, and I'm proud to be a Cougar."

The 2019 OVC Coach of the Year, Brown has guided the Cougars to three consecutive top-four finishes at the Conference tournament. He has coached 10 OVC All-Newcomer selections, eight All-OVC selections, two OVC Freshmen of the Year and 10 Individual Medalists.

The Cougars have captured six team tournament championships and earned nine runner-up finishes under Brown's guidance.
