Bulldogs Nab Girls Golf Meet, JV Boys Win

Effingham St. Anthony captured a high school girls triangular golf meet Tuesday.

The Bulldogs tallied 154 followed by Effingham 199 and Mount Zion 223.

St. Anthony's Ellie Wegman was the medalist with a 36. Also scoring were Addie Krouse 38, Lauren Schwing 39 and Nina Hakman 41. Non-counters were Mady Brummer 46 and Allison Geen 49.

Scoring for the Hearts were Marissa Allie 48, Marah Kirk 50, Anna Hirtzel 50 and Coralin Ohnesorge 51. Non-counters were Ellie Niebrugge 53, Elena Niebrugge 59 and Emilie Vincent 67.

Mount Zion's scorers were Emma Espinoza 49, G. Deniek 54, Peyton Graves 55 and Avery Kyhurz 63. Non-counters were Jolie Shafer and Lydia Trump with a 65 each.

 

At Eagle Creek

Effingham St. Anthony's junior varsity boys team claimed a triangular victory over Okaw Valley and Shelbyville.

The Bulldogs tallied a 166 followed by Okaw Valley 205 and Shelbyville 205.

Low individuals were St. Anthony's Michael Martelli and Ryan Schmidt with a 38 each. Also scoring were Joey Trupiano 44 and Patrick Ciorna 46. Non-counters were Aiden Tegeler 49 and Ethan Karolewicz 56.

Scoring for Shelbyville were Gabe Dove 44, Matt Grabb 45, Hampton Petska 56 and Jack Lockhart 61. Non-counters were Carter Anderson 60 and Cade Mitchell 59.

Scoring for Okaw Valley were Myles Harland 43, Tyson Montgomery 50, Aidan Williams 54 and Seth Webnor 58. Non-counters were Dylan Miller 60 and Seth Forlines 62.

 

At Vandalia

Effingham fell to Vandalia in a boys dual meet Tuesday, 156-188.

Scoring for Vandalia were Connor  McCaw, medalist with a 35, Chase Laack with a 38, Dylan Halford with a 38 and Jonah Beesley with a 45. Non-counter was Jacob Schaal with a 49.

Scoring for the Hearts were Colby Haynes 43, Ethan Ritz 46, David Splechter 48 and Joe Matteson 51. Non-counters were Jett Volpi 54 and Brayden Pals 61.

 

At Shelbyville

Teutopolis competed against Shelbyville and Okaw Valley but only the Wooden Shoes had enough players for a team score in girls action.

T-town tallied 240. Wortman scored 54 followed by Helmink 55, J. Deters 64, Niemerg 67, Wendte 69 and M. Deters 72.

The Wooden Shoes are now 3-4 on the season.
