Bulldogs Win Olney Boys Golf Invitational

OLNEY -- Effingham St. Anthony claimed the championship of the Olney Boys Golf Invitational Friday.

The Bulldogs tallied 309 in Stroke Play followed by Paris 311, Oblong 324, Sullivan #1 334, Mount Carmel 337, Olney 349, Teutopolis 370, Flora 388, Robinson 411 and Sullivan #2 478.

The Bulldogs also won the Best Ball play with 65 followed by Oblong 68, Paris 70, Sullivan #1 71, Mount Carmel 72, Olney 75, Robinson 76, Teutopolis 79, Cisne 79, Fairfield 80 and Lawrenceville/Red Hill 97.

St. Anthony put two players in the top five. Jonathon Willenborg was medalist for the invitational with a 73 while teammate Dakota Flaig took third with a 76.

Other scores for the Bulldogs were Thomas Chojnicki 78, Lane Ludwig 82, Charlie Wegman 84 and Michael Martelli 85.

Scores for Teutopolis were Ethan Thoele 89, Adam Lustig 91, Peyton Tegler 94, Brody Thoele 96, Hayden Jansen 100 and Gabe Schlink 111.

In the No. 2 spot was Luke Bradley of Paris with a 75 while No. 4 and No. 5 went to Alex Nealis of Olney and Parker Underwood of Paris with a 77 each.

 

At St. Elmo

Altamont claimed a dual meet over Ramsey Friday, 163-184.

Tyler Stonecipher took medalist honors with a 38. Also scoring for Altamont were Kevin Hall and Avery Jahraus with a 39 each and Alec Jahraus with a 47. Non-counting scores were Daniel McCammon 50 and Zeke Rippetoe 52.

Scoring for Ramsey were Gunnery Finley 45, Ben Hayes 46, Griffin Wright 46 and Hadley Seaton 47. Non-counters were Ayden Marley 51 and Charles Reiss 52.

Girls golf scores were 54 by Altamont's Madison Splechter and 58 by Ramsey's Coree Keagy.

Junior varsity scores for Altamont were Max Runge 44, Gavin Flack 46, Will Schultz 49, Tyler Ruffner 52, Gavyn Smith 54, AJ Kopplin 55, Jack Mathesius 62, Justin Brummer 62 and Alex Walker 76. For Ramsey it was Jason Ritter 60 and Marcus Hortenstine 65.

Altamont is now 9-1 on the season and returns to action Thursday at St. Elmo against Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg and Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran at 4 p.m.
