EHS Boys Win Triangular; EHS Girls Win; St. Anthony Boys Claim Second

The Effingham High School boys golf team defended their home turf successfully Wednesday, winning a triangular at Effingham Country Club.

Effingham won over Sullivan and Meridian. The final score: Effingham 162, Sullivan 172, Meridian 188.

Callaway Smith of Effingham was the medalist, firing a 35. Other counters for Effingham were Reed Schafer with a 41, Matt Linders with a 42, and Jacob Sigg and Nate Linders each shot a 44, while Michael Woltman posted a 45.

Effingham improved to 8-3 on the fall.

St. Anthony's boys took second place honors at a triangular at East Richland Country Club in Olney Wednesday.

Final results: Mt. Carmel 158, St. Anthony 168, Olney East Richland 187.

Jared Hutchison of St. Anthony shared medalist honors, firing a 37. Other counters for St. Anthony: Jacob Schmidt 42, Jeff Niebrugge 43, and Niko Dust and Luke Ludwig each a 44. Also for the Bulldogs: Mitchell Sager 46 and Trey Koester 52.

Effingham's girls won a dual against Sullivan Wednesday. Effingham posted a 196 total; Sullivan had just three girls so did not post a team score.

Hope Collier of Effingham was medalist with a 46. Kaylee Tonn and Keira Hirtzel each carded a 49 and Madison Weis shot a 52. Also for Effingham: Abbi Burgess 55 and Lindsay Stephenson 62.

Effingham improved to 9-5 on the fall.

Teutopolis competed with Robinson in a boys dual outing on Tuesday. The event was won by Robinson, 171-178.
