Bulldogs Take Triangular, EHS Boys, Girls Claim Golf Wins

OLNEY -- Effingham St. Anthony picked up a three-team boys golf meet at the East Richland Country Club Wednesday.

The Bulldogs' Jared Hutchison was the medalist with a 39. The Bulldogs had a 167 followed by Mount Carmel 168 and Olney 186. Also scoring for St. Anthony were Sam Wortman and Niko Dust with a 42 each and Nate Schmidt with a 44. Non-counting scores were Jeff Niebrugge 46, Jacob Schmidt 50 and Mitchell Sager 57.

Olney players were Blake Berry 44, Randy Goodman 45, Jeff Kowa 47, Luke Shan 50, Jordan Seib 52 and Curtis Ballard 65.

Mount Carmel's golfers were E. Thread 40, P. Roth 41, B. Golden 43, B. Stipp 44, N. Deisher 44 and B. Kolb 47.

 

At Sullivan

Effingham won both the boys and girls meets over host Sullivan and Meridian Thursday at the Sullivan Country Club.

The Hearts boys squad picked up its seventh victory with no defeats this season by scoring a 161 followed by Sullivan 200 and Meridian 242.

Jackson Wendling was medalist with a 37 followed by Jake Linders 41, Reed Schafer 41 and Ryan Sandifer 42. Non-counters were Callaway Smith 43 and Sean Sandifer 44.

Sullivan golfers were Kent Tabor 46, Sam Mulligan 47, Kenneth Farley 49, Cody Johnson 58, Liam Bechfold 63 and Jacob Cameron 70.

Meridian's golfers were Jason O'Laughlin 52, Cole Babcock 60, Jake Mudd 63, Game Scott 67 and Brock Doyle 69.

In the girls golf meet, Effingham tallied a 192 while Sullivan had a 263. Meridian only had two golfers. The Hearts improve to 11-3 with the win.

Co-medalists were Effingham's Morgan Wilson and Alex Brummer with a 46 each. Kaylee Tonn added a 48 and Madison Weis 52. Non-counting were Hope Collier 53 and Camryn Heuerman 70.

Scoring for Sullivan were Alexis Matlock 58, Beretta Phelps 65, Ariel Heppe 67 and Jessica Yantis 73. No scores were listed for the two Meridian players.

 

At Charleston

Charleston captured a triangular meet over Teutopolis and Casey-Westfield Thursday. The Trojans tallied 169 followed by T-town 178 and Casey-Westfield 215.

The 169 was a season best for the Trojans. Jarrod Blagg was medalist with a 40. Also scoring were Drew Tresslar 42, Kurt Smith 43 and Kendall Elliott 44. The Trojans improve to 10-5.

Teutopolis was led by Dylan Buenker with a 42, Christian Deters 44, Evan Schlink 46 and Braydan Bushue 46. Non-counters were Mat Weber 51 and Keegan Meyer 51.
