Hearts Open Conference Play Tonight at Mattoon

The Effingham Hearts open the Apollo Conference season tonight at Mattoon to take on the Green Wave.

Kickoff is at 7pm at Gaines Field. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45pm on your home for Hearts football, 979XFM.

Effingham opened its season with a 31-7 win at Robinson, then lost 36-30 in overtime to Mt. Carmel and last week lost to Breese Mater Dei 36-14.

Mattoon lost at Troy Triad 56-20 to open their season, then defeated Olney Richland County 33-6, then lost at Highland 44-22. 

That means both squads sit at 1-2 on the season, and both are opening their conference seasons tonight.
