The Effingham Hearts play host to the Breese Mater Dei Knights Friday night.

The Military Appreciation Night game will be played at Klosterman Field at Washington Savings Bank Stadium. Kickoff will be at 7pm. The game will be broadcast on Classic Hits 979XFM with pre-game information at 6:45pm.

Each team heads into the action at 1-1 on the season. Effingham won at Robinson 31-7 then lost last week in a thrilling overtime contest 36-30. Mater Dei opened with a win over Columbia 22-14 then lost to Breese Central 17-14.

The Hearts offense has been led by junior running back Weldon Dunston, while senior quarterback Gaige Gillum threw for two touchdowns in last week's loss to the Golden Aces. Seniors Andrew Lotz and Hunter Reed have been the leading receivers for Effingham.
