Thirty Eight-Man Football Teams This Year In IHSA

There will be 30 teams competing this year in the Illinois 8-Man Football Association.

The Illinois High School Association has the schedule up on its website for the high school teams with the Illinois 8-Man Football Association continuing to oversee the sport.

Eight-man football is played on a field that is 80 yards between goal lines and 40 yards wide. The roster may have a maximum of 25 players on their roster and the game is played with eight offensive and eight defensive players.

The four quarters are eight minutes long. Each team starts the game on their own 20-yard line.  All major penalties are 10 yards instead of 15.

There are five divisions and a total of 30 high school teams competing.

The Central 1 Division includes Danvilel Shclarman, Farmer City Blue Ridge, Flanagan-Cornell-Woodland, Ilford Co-op, Champaign ST. thoams More and Lowpoint Washburn. The Central 2 Division includes Biggsville West Central, bushnell-Priarie city, Galva, Cambridge-Ridgewood, Peoria Heights and Sciot West Prairie.

The North 1 Division includes Ashton-Frnaklin Cneter, Elgin Harvest Christian Academy, Rockford Christian Life, Kirkland Hiawatha, Yorkville Parkview Christian Academy, Alden-Hebron and South Beloit. The North 2 Division includes Amboy-LaMoille, Polo, Milledgeville, Orangeville ,Freeport Aquin and Hanover River Ridge.

The South Division includes Kincaid Southfork Co-op, Decatur Lutheran, Pawnee Cop-op, Martinsville and Edwardsvilel Metro-East  Lutheran.

The first games of the season are scheduled Friday, August 22 with 11 games on tap in the league.
