Effingham posted a 26-22 win over Charleston in fresh-soph/JV action.

Effingham held a 6-0 lead after one quarter, but Charleston led 8-6 at halftime. Effingham was back up 20-8 after three quarters, and then held on for the four-point win.

The Hearts scored on a three-yard pass play from Ethan Jones to Josue Vergel, but a two-point conversion was unsuccessful. Charleston scored on a 23-yard pass play. The Hearts then scored on runs of six yards by Jones and 22 yards by Spencer Fox to pull back in front. In a wild fourth quarter, Charleston score on a 19-yard pass play and converted for two to make it 20-16. The Hearts then scored on a five-yard run by Fox, but failed on the conversion and led 26-16. Charleston scored on an 18-yard pass play, but that ended the scoring and the Hearts claimed the win.

Effingham finished with 10 first downs, gained 106 yards rushing and another 101 yards passing.
