NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in his annual Super Bowl week news conference Wednesday that not enough minority coaches are being hired and changes are needed to the Rooney Rule.

 

He said, “Clearly, we are not where we want to be on this issue. . . It's clear we need to change and do something different.” He said he's speaking with several outside sources about whether the league needs to revise the Rooney Rule, the requirement that teams interview at least one minority candidate for head coach and general manager openings
