We are now out of Effingham High School football posters at the radio station. Posters are still available at Patton Printing or from any Sportsbacker member.

Be sure and root the Hearts on to victory Saturday in the Class 4A State playoffs at Klosterman Field.

EHS will be playing a fourth playoff contest against Murphysboro at 2 p.m. This is the farthest the Hearts have ever been in the playoffs.

EHS went three rounds during the 1980-81 season in Class 3A under Coach Jack Klosterman. EHS won over Litchfield and Monticello before losing to Harrisburg. It was Klosterman's last season as EHS head football coach.

The Hearts also claimed three playoff victories in Class 4A during the 1987-88 season under Coach Drew Potthoff. They beat Mount Carmel and Salem before losing to Randoul.

Last season, EHS went three playoff games under Coach Brett Hefner. They defeated Breese Mater Dei and Paris before falling to Kankakee Bishop McNamara.

The Hearts have competed 20 times in the playoffs since 1978-79. Coach Mike McDonald took EHS to the playoffs 13 times and five times they went two games.

If the Hearts win Saturday, they will play for the Class 4A State championship Friday, November 29.at Huskie Stadium in DeKalb at 7 p.m. against either Coal City or Richmond-Burton. Those two teams also play Saturday at 2 p.m.
