Bears' Hall Suspended For First Game

Chicago Bears safety Deiondre' Hall has been suspended for the first game of the regular season for violating the NFL substance abuse policy. Hall is eligible to participate in all preseason activities, but will have to sit out the regular season opener.


Redskins Sign Adrian Peterson

The Washington Redskins have signed four-time All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson to a one-year contract. The Redskins are thin at the running back position due to injuries as Derrius Guice underwent season-ending ACL surgery Monday.


Rams, Havenstein Agree to Terms

The Los Angeles Rams and right tackle Rob Havenstein have agreed to terms on a four-year contract extension through the 2022 season said to be worth $32.5 million.


Seahawks Release Kicker

The Seattle Seahawks have released kicker Jason Myers and punter Jon Ryan. Ryan had been the longest-tenured member of the team.


Tirico Replaces Patrick

NBC has announced that Mike Tirico will replace Dan Patrick in the studio for the Football Night in America and Sunday Night Football telecasts. Liam McHugh will co-host and be at game sites for most games.

 

Alabama Atop AP College Poll

To little surprise, Alabama sits atop the Associated Press Top 25 college football preseason poll. Alabama is just the second team to be ranked No. 1 in the poll for three straight seasons. Clemson, Georgia, Wisconsin and Ohio State rounded out the top five in the poll.


Will Urban Meyer Keep Job?

Ohio State trustees have set a private meeting for Wednesday to talk about the future of coach Urban Meyer. However, University President Michael V. Drake will have the final say on whether Meyer keeps his job. No timetable was given for a final decision on the matter.
