The benefit for Coach Kyal Hoelscher Huddle for Hydrocephalus was a huge success Sunday at Effingham High School's Klosterman Field.

The day featured flag football tournaments for junior high school, high school and adults. There also was a bake sale, concessions, 50/50 drawing and lots of raffle items.

Sunday's benefit raised $7,800 for the Hoelscher family and drew more than 1,500 people to Klosterman Field. Colton Booher won the right to shave Coach Smitty's beard after he was the first to kick a 50-yard field goal. Booher opted to let Kyal shave it when he's released from the hospital and rehab in St. Louis.

There were junior high and high school teams as well as adult teams that included many former Hearts players, some who formed teams to play as they did in school.

The Griffin Paige team won the high school division while the Effingham County Storm claimed the adult division.
