Effingham St. Anthony hosted Efifngham in boys and girls cross country action Thursday.

St. Anthony's Stacie Vonderheide and Effingham's Jessica Larson won the girls meet with a time of 22:14 each. The Bulldogs did not have enough runners for a team score.

Effingham's Alex Gordon won the boys meet with a time of 18:15. The Hearts won the meet with a 24-34 score.

St. Anthony's Julius Ramos placed second in 18:16.

At Newton

Newton captured the boys meet while Teutopolis was a winner in girls competition Thursday.

The Eagles tallied 21 followed by Dieterich 53, Casey-Westfield 56 and Teutopolis 85 in boys action. Newton's Brock Probst was the winner with a time of 16;27 followed by teammates Jackson Sornberger in 16:28 and Isaac Street in 16:39.

North Clay's Zane Graoves was fourth in 16;52 and Casey-Westfield's Mason Evans fifth in 17:02.

Dieterich's Trevor Crutcher took six in 17:05 and Kaden Einhorn was seventh in 17:07. Newton then took the eighth and ninth places as Tanner Whitaker finished in 17:11 and Haylen Borgic in 17:17. Jackson High of Casey-Westfield rounded out the top 10 in 17:18.

In the girls meet, Teutopolis was first with 26 and Dieterich second with 29. North Clay, Newton and Casey-Westfield had runners but not enough for team scores.

Newton's Layna Marshall won with a time of 19:05. 

Scoring for Teutopolis were Pearl Huber in 23:05, Mary Jane Dennis in 23:11, Elaina Gaffin in 24:22, Ella Neihls in 24:41 and Maddie Zane in 25:27.
