Effingham High School won the Doc Acklin Memorial Cross Country Invitational.

PARIS -- Effingham High School captured the Doc Acklin Memorial Cross Country Invitational girls title Saturday.

The Hearts tallied 31 points followed by Marshall 56, St. Joseph-Ogden 107, BHRA 155, Charleston 157, Paris 159, Newton 175, Tuscola 182, Cumberland County (Neoga) 210, Dieterich 216 and Teutopolis 249. Casey-Westfield, Hoopeston Area, Chrisman-Georgetown-Ridge Farm Co-op, Heritage, Westville and Chrisman had runners but not enough for a team score.

Effingham's Jessica Larsen won the individual championship with a time of 19:35.2. Also scoring for the Hearts were Audrey Wagoner sixth in 20:49.7, Baylee Summers 12th in 21:00.2, Morgan Springer  21st in 21:55.5 and Drew Weis 31st in 21:55.6 overall.

Newton's top finisher was Layna Marshall eighth in 21:22.9. Cumberland County's Libby McGinnis was 27th in 24:43.4. Dieterich's Lena Goebel finished 21st in 23:59.1. T-town's Adrienne Koester was 20th in 23:49.9.

In the boys meet, St. Joseph-Ogden was the winner with 39 points followed by Cumberland County 98, Charleston 119, Paris 119, Heritage 134, Newton 168, Effingham 180, Casey-Westfield 208, Dieterich 215, Danville 248, Marshall 259, Chrisman-Georgetown-Ridge Farm Co-op 280 and BHRA 318. Teutopolis, Hoopeston Area, tri-County, Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville and Westville did not have enough runners for a team score.

Effingham's Alex Gordon, a sophomore, finished second overall. He had a time of 17:19.2.

Cumberland's Cameron Roedl captured third in 17:29.4.
