T-town Beats St. A, Altamont, C'land, N.C., WSS, Neoga, S.C., Newton Win

Teutopolis 49, St. Anthony38 (this was a close contest played in a jam-packed J.H. Griffin Gym. It began as a see-saw affair with St. Anthony scoring the first four points, then Teutopolis scoring the next nine points, then St. Anthony scoring the final six points to lead 10-9 at the end of the first quarter. An 8-7 second quarter left the Bulldogs on top 18-16 at halftime. Teutopolis started to get some shots to fall and outscored St. Anthony 16-11 in the third period to lead 32-29 heading for the final quarter. St. Anthony eventually had to foul and Teutopolis responded, making 11 of 13 free throws in the period to outscore the Bulldogs 17-9 to post the 11-point win. James Niebrugge, stuck at four points at halftime, finished with 19 points on seven of 10 shooting with six rebounds. Caleb Siemer scored 14 points on five of nine shooting with eight boards. Joey Niebrugge scored nine points with five rebounds. Also for Teutopolis: Brendan Niebrugge 5 and Garrett Gaddis 2. For St. Anthony, Collin Westendorf had a big night with 19 points on seven of 10 shooting. Also for the Bulldogs: Ryan Schmidt 8, Griffin Sehy 6, Brock Fearday 3, and Michael Martelli 2 along with five assists. Teutopolis is now 18-7, while St. Anthony is 17-10). T-town also claimed the junior varsity game, 59-45. Scoring for T-town were Z. Niebrugge 16, Kremer 12, Pruemer 8, Bloemer 8, Addis 7 and Lawson 5. Scorng for St. Anthony were Ruholl 11, Lauritzen 10, Fearday 10, Link 5, Hatton 4, Brent 4 and Dietzen 1.

Altamont 53, Nokomis 49 (Altamont with a big second half comeback posted the win on the road. The Indians were down 27-19 at halftime, but outscored Nokomis 34-22 after intermission to post the four-point win. Avery Jahraus with 18 points and Dillan Elam with 11 points led Altamont. Also for the Indians: Mason Robinson 9, Eric Kollmann 7, Logan Cornett 4, and Jared Hammer and Kienon Eirhart 2 each. Elijah Aumann led Nokomis with 20 points. Altamont, sitting second in the state in the 1A poll, improved to 21-3 on the season)

Cumberland 50, Tri-County 32 (Kansas held a 20-19 halftime lead but Cumberland came back with a 14-8 final quarter and claimed the 30-32 victory. Gavin Hendrix and Jaxon Boldt tallied 13 points each for the Pirates while Trevin Magee added 12, Maddox McElravy 8 and Kaleb Bierman and Zack Buescher two each.

North Clay (Louisville) 67, Dieterich 54 (after a 17-17 first quarter, North Clay led 39-30 at halftime and 56-42 after three quarters before Dieterich had a 12-11 fourth quarter edge to decide the final score. Logan Fleener led North Clay with 23 points, while Alex Boose scored 15 points and Cody Zimdars 14 points. Also for North Clay: Carter Walden 7, Levi Smith 6, and Ethan Kuenstler 2. For Dieterich: Lucas Westendorf and Caleb Gephart each scored 16 points. Also for the Movin Maroons: Garrett Niebrugge 7, Jaxon Funneman and Kolton Kidd 4 each, Cole Will 3, and Tanner Will and John Holste 2 each) Dieterich claimed the junior varsity win, 57-34. Scoring for Dieterich were Will 13, Holste 13, Wente 12, Iffert 10, Lidy 4, Niemerg 3, McDaniel 2 and Funneman 2. Scoring for North Clay were Byers 8, Hosselton 6, Compton 5, Casolari 5, Walden 3, Craig 2, Bailey 2, Weidner 2 and Poe 1.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 59, Mulberry Grove 27 (the Hatchets led 19-10 after one quarter, 34-12 at halftime, and 52-24 after three quarters. For the Hatchets: Austin Wittenberg 15, Dylan Curry and Jordan Wittenberg 9 each, Rhett Rincker 8, McDaniel 6, Carter Chaney 5, Dispennett 3, and Nathaniel Gracey and Talon Bridges 2 each. Windsor/Stew-Stras is now 19-8 on the season)

Neoga 65, Sandoval 61 (Neoga was led by Quintin Richards with 23 points, along with Trey Sheehan 14, Brady Reynolds 12, Logan Titus 8, Kaden Will 4, Bryar Hennessey 3, and Ryan Koester 1)

South Central 42, St. Elmo/Brownstown 31 (the Cougars led 15-8 after one quarter. After a 4-4 second period, South Central outscored SE/B 22-19 to win by 11. For South Central: Aiden Dodson 21, Anthony Buonaura 8, Rahkeim Anderson 5, Ethan Watwood and Max Magnus 3 each, and Jacob Smith 2. For St. Elmo/Brownstown: Caleb Campbell 14, Wyatt Stine 7, Adam Atwood 5, Brody Mason 3, Cade Schaub 2. St. Elmo/Brownstown is now 16-8

Newton 60, Marshall 47 (the Eagles were down 18-11 after one quarter but outscored the Lions 24-7 in the second period to lead 35-25 at halftime. Newton outscored Marshall 25-22 in the second half to post the 13-point win. For Newton: Dylan Gier with 24 points and Caden Nichols with 21 points set the pace. Also for Newton: Jacob Weber 7, Marc Jansen 4, Gus Bierman 2, and Kye Bergbower and Payton Harris 1 each. Newton improved to 17-9 on the season)
