Shoes Onto Sectional Championship Game w/Wednesday Win

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes advanced to the championship game of the Shelbyville 2A Sectional with a 48-39 victory over Tolono Unity Wednesday night. The game was heard on Classic Hits 979XFM and www.979xfm.com

With the win, Teutopolis will now take on St. Joseph-Ogden for the championship Friday night at 7:00. St. Joe-Ogden won Tuesday over Flora, 50-40. You can hear the Friday game on 979XFM. 

The Shoes shot 53% from the field in posting the Wednesday win, but it was close throughout. 

Teutopolis led 10-8 after one quarter, 21-17 at halftime, and 33-27 after three quarters before outscoring the Rockets 15-12 in the final quarter to post the nine-point win. 

Teutopolis shot 53.1% from the field, making 17 of 32 shots, despite missing all six of their three-point attempts. The Shoes had a good night at the free-throw line, making 14 of 20, including 11 of 14 in the fourth quarter. T-Town committed 11 turnovers.

Tolono Unity made just 15 of 48 shots, 31.2%, including just 4 of 23 three-point tries. Unity made five of nine free throws and turned the ball over just eight times. 

Each team grabbed 27 rebounds.

Joey Niebrugge and Austin Bloemer paced the Wooden Shoes' attack with 10 points apiece. Tyler Pruemer added eight points, Garrett Gaddis and and Alex Kremer six each, Mitch Koester five, Drew Hoene two, and Zac Niebrugge one.

Henry Thomas led Unity with eight points, Dalton O'Neil and Colton Langendorf seven each, Andrew Thomas and Dane Eisenmenger five apiece, Brayden Henry four, and Jay Saunders three. 

Teutopolis improved to 22-11, while Unity saw their season end at 26-5.
