Carsyn Fearday Breaks Maryville University Scoring Record

Effingham High School graduate Carsyn Fearday made NCAA history leading Maryville University to an epic 77-75 upset against No. 18 Drury Saturday.

Fearday broke Maryville's scoring record with 40 points. She connected on 12 of 23 from the field including two of five three-pointers and was 14 of 17 at the line.

With that record, Fearday also surpassed 1,000 career points and becomes the 14th player in Maryville history to achieve this milestone, ending an 18-game losing streak against Drury.

Fearday also finished with six rebounds. Maryville improved to 13-7 in the GLVC and 16-10 overall. Drury dropped to 16-4 in the GLVC and 21-5 overall.

Fearday appeared in 19 games her freshman year with two starts. She finished with 58 points, 70 rebounds and 13 steals. 

In her sophomore season, she played in 25 games and started 24 of those. She averaged 8.3 points a game and scored in double figures seven times. She was second for the Saints in rebounding at 4.1 and in assists with 48. She led the team in steals with 33. She had a career high wtih 15 points against Hannibal-LaGrange and William Jewell. She ended the season by hitting her last 12 free throw attempts.

During her junior year, she was third team All-GLVC. She tied for second on the team in scoring 13 points a game and scored in double figures in 22 games. She was second in assists with 81 and hit 80.6 percent at the free throw line.

She is averaging 14.8 points this, her senior season, hitting 43.2 percent from the field and 75.9 percent from the free throw line. She has 99 rebounds for a 3.8 average, 66 assists, six blocked shots and 40 steals.
