St. Anthony, T-town Win Seventh-Grade Regional Championships

TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis Junior High School captured the Class 7-3A Seventh-Grade Boys Basketball Regional championship Wednesday evening.

The Wooden Shoes downed Robinson Nuttall, 34-24. T-town stepped out to a 12-4 opening quarter lead and led 21-5 at halftime.

Robinson Nuttall came back with a 9-2 third quarter but T-town got back on track with an 11-10 final period.

Kale Goeckner led the way for T-town with nine points while Blake Niemerg added eight.

T-town now advances to the Cumberland Sectional Monday to meet either Sullivan or Tuscola East Prairie at 6:30 p.m. Those two teams play tonight for the championship of the Tuscola Regional.

Class 7-2A St. Anthony  Regional

Effingham St. Anthony claimed the championship of its own Class 7-2A regional Wednesday evening.

The Bullpups won over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 43-32. No other information was provided.

St. Anthony advances to the St. Elmo/Brownstown Sectional Monday to face Paris Crestwood at 6:30 p.m.

Charlie Hoene (St. Anthony) and Kaisyn Calame (Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City) won sportsmanship awards.

 

Class 7-2A Casey-Westfield Regional

Paris Crestwood handed North Clay (Louisville) a 50-24 loss to win the Casey-Westfield Regional championship.

North Clay ended its season with a 12-7 record.

Crestwood will now meet Effingham St. Anthony Monday at the St. Elmo/Brownstown Sectional at 6:30 p.m.

 

Class 7-4A Taylorville Regional

Mount Zion was the champion of the Taylorville Regional after beating Mattoon, 35-31 Wednesday evening.

Mount Zion now heads to the Rochester Sectional Monday to face Springfield Franklin, a 33-31 winner over Quincy at the Quincy Regional.

 

Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional

Sigel St. Michael and Newton St. Thomas will meet tonight for the regional championship.

The winner will advance to the St. Michael Sectional Monday to face East St. Louis Younge, a 49-44 winner over Findlay Okaw Valley in the Pana Sacred Heart Regional Wednesday evening.
