Dieterich Holiday Girls Tourney Underway; Neoga Splits At Monticello

In the opener, South Central claimed a 52-44 win over Dieterich. The Cougars held a 23-17 halftime lead. Dieterich came back with a 14-6 third period run to pull ahead 31-29. But South Central got back on track with a 23-13 final period.
Taegan Webster led the way with 25 points, hitting 11 field goals and three of three at the line. Also in double figures was Kaitlyn Swift with 14.
Dieterich was led by Miley Britton with 23 points on 10 field goals, three of those from three point range.
Red Hill (Bridgeport) edged Arcola, 31-23 in the second contest.
Cumberland then defeated South Central, 62-51. The Pirates took the early lead and never looked back.
Two players hit double figures for the Pirates. Alysa Dittamore led the way with eight field goals and four of six at the line for 20 points. Katelyn Shoemaker was a point behind with 19 on six field goals, two of those three-pointers, and five of eight at the line.
South Central was led by Webster with 26 points on 11 field goals, one a three-pointer, and three free throws for 26. Percilla Reid tallied 10 points.
In the fourth contest, Brownstown/St. Elmo demolished Red Hill, 71-27. The Bombers moved into a 21-9 opening quarter lead and had the game put away by halftime with a 24-5 second period to lead 45-14 at halftime.
Dayana Haslett and Lexi Seabaugh led the way with 23 points each. Haslett hit 11 field goals, one a three-pointer, while Seabaugh nailed nine field goals, one a three-pointer and was four of six at the line.
Arcola was a 51-36 winner over Casey-Westfield in the fifth contest.
In the final game of the day, Dieterich won over Marshall, 50-44.
The Maroons took a 17-11 opening quarter lead and led 27-18 at halftime. Dieterich had a 9-7 third quarter. Marshall came back with a 19-14 final period but it was too little, too late.
Miley Britton led the Maroons with 15 points on seven field goals and one of two at the line. Also in double figures was Kady Tegeler with 12.

At Monticello
Neoga picked up a victory and suffered a loss at the Monticello Holiday Tournament Tuesday evening.
Neoga won its opener over host Monticello, 54-36. The Indians edged out to a 13-12 opening quarter lead then had a 20-6 second period run and never looked back.
Brynn Richards led the way with 21 points on eight field goals and five of six at the line. Also in double figures was Haylee Campbell with 15.
In the second contest, Clinton handed Neoga a 60-54 loss.
Clinton took a 21-11 opening quarter lead. Neoga came back with a 15-8 second period to pull within 29-26 at halftime. Neoga then moved ahead 43-42 going into the final period. Clinton came back with an 18-11 final quarter.
Atalie Osborn led Neoga with 13 points on six field goals, one a three-pointer. Richards added 12 points.
Neoga is now 10-4 on the season and returns to action today playing Ridgeview at 3:30 p.m.
