Altamont, Newton, WSS, Neoga, North Clay In Girls Holiday Tourneys

Area girls high school basketball teams will be competing in Christmas holiday tournaments.

Following are several of the area teams and the tournaments they are competing in.

 

Knights Holiday Classic Tournament

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg will be the first area team to open tournament play Thursday, December 21. The tournament finishes out Saturday, December 23.

There are two pools. Pool A members are host Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, Chrisman, Unity Christian and Rantoul. In Pool B are Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, Heritage, Shelbyville and Decatur Eisenhower.

WSS will open play Thursday at 6 p.m. in the East Gym against Heritage. The Hatchets will face Decatur Eisenhower at 6 p.m. Friday in the East Gym and will finish out pool play Friday at 11:30 a.m. against Shelbyville in the West Gym.

The finals are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. with the seventh place contest in the East Gym and the fifth place game in the West Gym and finish out with the third place game at 4:30 p.m. in the East Gym and the championship in the West Gym.

Robinson Holidaze Hoopla

Altamont will be competing in the Robinson Hoopla Wednesday, December 27, Thursday, December 28 and  Friday, December 29.

The tourney is divided into two pools. In Pool A are Robinson, Tri-County, Oswego and Sullivan. In Pool B are Altamont, Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville, Terre Haute South and North Central.

Altamont will meet Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville at 12:30 Wednesday. The Indians will then take on Terre Haute South at 10:30 a.m. Thursday and North Central at 4:30 p.m.

The finals are scheduled for Friday.

Robinson Holidaze Hoopla

Wednesday, December 27

Game 1 -- Robinson vs. Tri-County, 11 a.m.

Game 2 -- Altamont vs. Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville, 12:30 p.m.

Game 3 -- Oswego vs. Sullivan, 2 p.m.

Game 4 -- Terre Haute South vs. North Central, 3:30 p.m.

Thursday, December 28

Game 5 -- Robinson vs. Oswego, 9 a.m.

Game 6 -- Altamont vs. Terre Haute South, 10:30 a.m.

Game 7 -- Tri-County vs. Sullivan, noon

Game 8 -- Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville vs. North Central, 1:30 p.m.

Game 9 -- Robinson vs. Sullivan, 3 p.m.

Game 10 -- Altamont vs. North Central, 4:30 p.m.

Merry Mule Tournament

Newton will be competing in the Merry Mule Tournament at Fairfield High School.

The tournament is divided into four pools. In Pool A are Fairfield, Lawrenceville and Webber Township (Bluford). In Pool B are Edwards County (Albion), Wayne City and Woodlawn. In Pool C are Newton, Carmi and Murphysboro. In Pool D are Flora, Mount Carmel and Meridian.

The tourney games will be held at Fairfield High School and Center Street Grade School.

Newton will be competing at the grade school and will face Murphysboro at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, December 27 and then take on Carmi at 6:45 p.m.

The winners from the four pools will be placed in the Gold Bracket, second place in the Silver Bracket and third place in the Bronze Bracket.

The brackets will be played Thursday, December 28 with the third place game at 6:15 p.m. and the champoinship at 7:45 p.m.

Monticello Holiday Tournament

Neoga will be competing in the Monticello Holiday Tournament December 26-28.

Neoga is in Purple Pool with Monticello, Clinton and Ridgeview. In the Gold Pool are Paxton/Buckely/Loda, Tuscola, Tri-Valley and Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley.

Neoga will meet Monticello in the opening game of the tournament Tuesday, December 26 at 10 a.m. Neoga then faces Clinton in the final game of the day at 7:30 p.m.

Neoga takes on Ridgeview at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 27.

The finals are scheduled for Thursday, December 28 with the third place game at 2 p.m. and the championship at 6 p.m.

Monticello Holiday Tournament

Tuesday, December 26
