FARINA -- South Central High School's Taegan Webster hit her 1,000 career point as the Cougars downed Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville, 60-40 Wednesday evening in girls high school basketball..

Webster finished with 31 points to reach the goal. She opened with five points in the first quarter, then put together 10 in the second period, seven in the third quarter and finished out hitting her goal with nine in the final period for 31 points.

Webster connected on 11 field goals, one a three-pointer, and was eight of 12 at the line.

South Central ripped out to an 18-9 opening quarter lead and led 32-18 at halftime. The Cougars had a 28-22 second half.

Kaitlyn Swift and Brooke Cowger scored eight points each for the winners.
