COWDEN -- Dieterich and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City split junior high boys basketball wins in Tuesday evening action.

 

CHBC was a 38-17 winner in the seventh-grade contest. CHBC stepped out to a 15-6 opening quarter lead and led 22-8 at halftime.

Pope and Bennett tallied 12 points each to lead the winners.

Dieterich was led by B. Niemerg with six points.

In the eighth-grade game, Dieterich held an 18-7 lead after the opening quarter and 30-13 at halftime.

Bryce Bohnhoff was the lone Dieterich player in double figures with 17. He hit seven field goals and was three of four at the line. Mason Niemerg was a point away from double figures with nine and Alex Schottman added eight.

CHBC was led by Barnes with 11 points.

At Newton

Jasper County claimed the eighth-grade win but fell in seventh-grade play against Lawrenceville Tuesday.

Lawrenceville was a 41-35 winner in the sevenh-grade game, Lawrenceville edged ahead 8-6 in the opening quarter and led 17-16 at halftime. Lawrenceville then had a 17-6 third quarter run.

Jasper County was led by Jacob Ferguson with 13 points. Ferguson was the top rebounder and Chase Kistner the top defender. Jasper County dropped to 10-4.

In eighth-grade play, Jasper County claimed a 58-27 victory to improve to 12-3.

Chance Mulvey led the way in scoring with 14 while Ian Kessler added 12. Kessler was the top defender and Mack Huber the top rebounder.

At Louisville

North Clay (Louisville) fell to Altamont Lutheran in junior high action Tuesday.

Altamont Lutheran was a winner in the seventh-grade contest, 25-22.

In the eighth-grade game, Altamont Lutheran won 59-22.

North Clay fell to 6-4 in the eighth-grade game and is back in action Thursday against South Central.
