ALTAMONT -- Altamont High School trailed Nokomis 13-11 after the opening quarter and 20-12 at halftime. The Indians came out in the second half and went on a 21-7 run and finished out strong with a 15-4 final period for a 48-31 victory in girls basketball action Thursday.

Peyton Osteen hit a three-pointer in the opening quarter and Grace Nelson a basket and two free throws.

But in the second period, Nelson was the lone Altamont player to score with one free throw.

Nelson then came out in the third quarter and went on a 10 point tear while Brianna Grunloh and Claire Boehm knocked in a three-pointer each and the Indians took a 33-27 lead into the final period.

Nelson continued on with five baskets for 10 points and finished with 25 for the game on 10 field goals, one a three-pointer and four of six at the line.

Nokomis was a winner in the junior varsity contest, 48-42.

At Altamont

At Strasburg

Brownstown/St. Elmo came calling at Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg and took home a 54-45 victory Thursday evening.

Danika Ramsey led the way in the opening quarter with seven points as the Bombers took a 17-11 lead. BSE then held a 27-24 halftime lead as WSS came back with a 13-10 second period run. Kendra Hayes scored five of those points.

BSE got back on track with a 12-9 third quarter run as Dayana Haslett scored five.

The Bombers finished strong, especially from the free throw line in the final quarter with a 15-12 run for the victory.

Day. Haslett led the way with 17 points while Lexi Seabaugh added 10. BSE hit 18 of 32 free throws in the contest.

Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by S. Hayes with 12 points on four field goals and four of five at the line. Ellie Wittenberg chipped in with 10 points.

BSE was a 62-28 winner in junior varsity action. Danika Ramsey scored 20 points, Audria Logue 17 and Addie Sasse 11.

WSS was led by McKenzi Vondheriede with 10 points.

At Martinsville

Dieterich jumped on the board with a 22-6 opening quarter lead and never looked back in a 44-16 victory Thursday.

The Movin' Maroons zipped out to a 22-6 opening quarter lead behind Miley Britton's four baskets for eight points and Kady Tegeler with six points.

Brittney Niemerg took over in the second quarter with five points as Dieterich led 30-8.

Dieterich continued to outscore the Bluestreaks in the second half for the winning margin.

Britton led the way for Dieterich with 13 points while Niemerg added 11.

In the junior varsity contest, Dieterich was a 37-29 winner. Addison Miller led with 12 points while Ella Kreke added 10 for the Maroons.

At Martinsville

At Neoga

Neoga easily handled Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville to the tune of 73-31 Thursday evening.

The Indians stepped out to a 21-12 opening quarter lead and led 43-24 at halftime.

Five players hit double digits for the winners. Haylee Campbell led the way with 23 points on 11 field goals, one from three-point range. Allison Sampson added 13 while Brynn Richards, Gracie Eaton and Atalie Osborn added 10 points each.

Neoga improved to 8-1 on the season and returns to action hosting Cumnerland in a Mega Night for Neoga homecoming Friday, Dec. 8.

At Ramsey

South Central tallied a 57-50 victory over Ramsey in Thursday evening action.

Ramsey stepped out to a 19-16 opening quarter lead but South Central came back with a 14-6 second period run to pull ahead 30-25 at halftime. Taegan Webster got on a second quarter roll for the Cougars, connecting on six field goals and a free throw for 13 of her team's 14 points.

Webster added six more points in the third quarter but Ramsey had a 15-10 third period to knot the score at 40-40.

South Central then had a 17-10 final quarter, hitting four baskets and nine of 12 free throws for the seven point victory.

Webster finished with 27 points on 12 field goals and two of three at the line. Kaitlyn Swift added 15 points.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis played host to St. Joseph-Ogden and edged the visitors, 59-50 in Thursday evening play.

The Wooden Shoes took a 14-11 opening quarter lead as four players scored led by Mollie Ruholl and Malea Helmink with four points each. T-town then had a slight 18-17 second period edge to lead 32-28 at halftime. M. Ruholl and Chloe Probst added six points each.

St. Joseph-Ogden came back with a 14-11 third period run to pull within a point at 43-42. C. Probst scored six points to keep the Wooden Shoes in the contest and then came back with an eight point final quarter as T-town had a 16-7 edge for the winning margin.

C. Probst finished with 20 points in seven field goals, one a three-pointer, and five of seven at the line. M. Ruholl aded 13 points while Anna Probst added 10.

Helmink led in rebounds with eight while M. Ruholl had three steals. Isabelle Zerrusen and C. Probst had one assist each.

At Newton

Newton came out a 47-42 winner over Robinson in a LIttle Illini Conference contest Thursday.

The two teams played to an 8-8 opening quarter tie before Newton edged ahead 24-21 at halftime.

The Eagles then had a 23-21 second half.

Lilly Kessler led the way for Newton with 22 points on seven field goals and eight of eight at the line. Camryn Martin added 14 points.

Kessler also led in rebounds with 15. Karasyn Martin and Elley Bennett had three assists each. C. Martin led in steals with four.

Newton improves to 1-1 in the conference, 4-4 overall.

Newton also won the junior varsity game, 25-22. Estella Meinhart led the way for the Eagles with 10 points. The Eagles JV is 5-0.

Cumberland ran out to a 19-0 opening quarter lead and went on for a 64-20 win over Blue Ridge Thursday evening.

The Pirates held a 35-12 halftime lead.

Paige Dittamore and Suzy Fritts were the one-two scoring punch for the Pirates. Dittamore hit nine field goals and two free throws for 20 points while Fritts connected on eight field goals for 16 points.

Dittamore led in rebounds with 23. She and Fritts had three steals each.
