Effingham St.Anthony finished fourth and Effingham was sixth at the St. Anthony Boys Basketball Turkey Tournament Saturday.

In the third place contest, the Bulldogs held a 21-18 halftime lead and led by two heading into the final quarter. But Champaign Central came back with a 13-4 final period to knot the score at 47-47 sending the contest into overtime. In the overtime period, Central had a 6-4 edge to pull out the 53-51 victory.

St. Anthony was led by Brock Fearday with 18 points on seven field goals and three of four at the line. He hit one three-pointer. Brady Hatton also hit double figures with 11.

Effingham captured the seventh place contest over Robinson, 56-48. The Hearts ripped out to a 21-7 opening quarter lead as KJ Kellams knocked in four field goals, two of those from three-point range, for 10 points.

The Hearts led 30-23 at halftime as Cannon Bockhorn scored five points in the period. Robinson came back with a 9-5 third quarter and pulled within three points. But the Hearts got back on track with a 21-16 final period as Bockhorn went on a tear. He hit three trifectas, two regular baskets and four of four at the line for 17 in the quarter.

Bockhorn finished with 25 for the contest while Kellams added 14.

Winning the tournament was Breese Central over Belleville East, 44-30. Fifth place went to Mattoon over Rantoul, 72-60.

In Friday's encounter between Effingham and St. Anthony, the Bulldogs came out a 61-43 winner.

The Hearts edged out to a 15-14 opening quarter lead as Kellams scored eight and Cannon Bockhorn hit a three-pointer. But that lead was short-lived as the Bulldogs came back with an 18-8 second period to lead 32-23 at halftime.

B. Fearday scored seven and Sam Link added six.

The Bulldogs continued their run with an 11-9 third quarter to lead 43-32 going into the final period then finished out with an 18-11 quarter.

Collin Westendorf ended up scoring 10 points in the final period and led the Bulldogs with 17. B. Fearday chipped in with nine.

Effingham was led by Bockhorn with 11 and Kellams with 10.

Named to the All-Tournament Team were St. Anthony's Collin Westendorf and Brock Fearday, Breese Central's Colten Arnold, Mason Shubert and Zane Schrage, Belleville East's Jacort Brown and Tallis Lowery. Lowery was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, Champaign Central's Chris Bush, Rantoul's DJ Davis and Robinson's Noah Gilmore.
