CHBC, SEB Big Scoring Winners At Mulberry Grove Tourney

MULBERRY GROVE -- Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City opened the evening at the Mulberry Grove Boys Basketball Tournament with an 84-40 win over Lebanon.

The Bobcats opened with a 29-11 first quarter run as Kaidyn Calame went on a tear hitting four field goals, including a three-pointer, and one of one at the line for 10 points while AJ Radloff added seven points.

CHBC continued its run with a 23-4 second period to lead 52-15 at halftime. Clayton Wojcik went on a run, scoring nine points in the quarter while Radloff added six more to his total.

The Bobcats had a 26-11 third period surge as Wojciki tallied nine and Calame seven.

Lebanon finished out with a 14-6 final period.

CHBC was led by five players in double figures. Wojcik led the way with nine field goals, two of those three-pointers, and one of two at the line for 21. Calame added 19, Radloff 15, Gage Lorton 12 and Wyatt Rueff 10.

In the second game of the evening, Ramsey downed Mount Olive, 58-42.

St. Elmo/Brownstown then went on an 80-43 run to beat Mulberry Grove.

The Eagles ran out to a 29-8 opening quarter lead as Cade Schaub scored nine points in the quarter. The Eagles led 55-22 at halftime. Adam Atwood went on an 11 point run while Collin Maxey added nine points. 

St. Elmo/Brownstown finished out with a 22-21 second half.

Schaub scored 20 points on six field goals, three of those from trifecta land, and five of eight at the line. Maxey chipped in with 18 points on seven field goals, one a three-pointer and three of five at the line. Atwood tallied 16 points, all in the first half on seven field goals and one of one at the line.

The tournament continues Friday with St. Elmo/Brownstown against Mount Olive at 5:15, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City taking on South Central at 6:45 and Lebanon facing Father McGivney at 8:15.

 St. Elmo/Brownstown and South Central are 2-0 at this point in the tourney while Mulberry Grove is 2-1. CHBC is 1-1.
