Teutopolis handed Effingham St. Anthony losses in seventh- and eighth-grade boys basketball Monday evening.

The Wooden Shoes edged the Bullpups, 27-24 in the seventh-grade game. St. Anthony held a 10-8 opening quarter lead and led 19-14 at halftime. T-town pulled within 24-20 going into the final period then held St. Anthony scoreless with a 7-0 run for the victory.

Kale Goeckner led the way for the Shoes with nine points.

St. Anthony was led by Curtis Tingley with eight.

In the eighth-grade contest, T-town moved ahead 14-11 in the opening quarter and led 26-14 at halftime. The Shoes went on for a 44-26 win.

Eric Weidner led the way with 14 points while Jake Probst added 10.

St. Anthony was led by Conner Storm with 14 points.

At Effingham

Effingham Sacred Heart and North Clay (Louisville) split victories Monday evening.

The Shamrocks were winners in the seventh-grade contest, 43-26. Sacred Heart held a 21-10 halftime lead.

Gabe Traub led the Shamrocks with 18 points. 

North Clay was led by Lewis with 11 points. North Clay dropped to 2-2 on the season.

In the eighth-grade game, North Clay tallied a 47-33 victory.

North Clay pushed ahead 21-11 at halftime then had an 11-8 final quarter.

Probst led with 11 points while Adair added 10 for the winners.

Sacred Heart was led by Freddie Jansen with 15 and Owen Schuette with 12.

At Robinson

Effingham claimed an eighth-grade victory over Robinson Nuttall Monday evening.

The Mustangs were 39-24 winners. Effingham took a 17-4 opening quarter lead and had a 13-5 third quarter run.

Jenner Pals led the way with 20 points while Carson Fox chipped in with 12.

In seventh-grade competition, Robinson Nuttall was a 43-23 winner. Nuttall took a 24-7 halftime lead.

Eli Wendling led the Mustangs with six points.

At Flora

Jasper County captured the eighth-grade contest but fell in seventh-grade play to Flora Floyd Henson Monday evening.

Floyd Henson won the seventh-grade game 47-29, taking a 25-18 halftime lead.

Chase Kistner led Jasper County with 14 points and was the top defender while Hank Huber was the top rebounder.

The loss was the first of the season for Jasper County, which dropped to 4-1.

In eighth-grade action, Jasper County went on a 27-13 first half run then had a 28-6 second half for a 55-19 victory.

Chance Mulvey scored 15 points for the winners who are now 4-1. Jarrell Bierman was the top defender and Mack Huber the top rebounder.

At Strasburg

Stewardson-Strasburg scored two wins over Okaw Valley in Monday evening action.

In the seventh-grade encounter, Stew-Stras ran out to a 10-0 opening quarter lead and led 19-2 at halftime. The squad went on for a 43-11 win.

Eight players scored led by Weston Friese with 11 points. Stew-Stras evened its record at 3-3.

In the eighth-grade contest, Stew-Stras was a 42-31 winner. Okaw Valley held a 20-18 halftime lead.

Stew-Stras then came back with a 16-0 third quarter run.

Three players hit double digits for the winners. Parker Duncan led the way with 12 points while Eli Jones and Joe Holland tallied 10 each.

The team improved to 4-3 on the season and is back in action Thursday at Sigel St. Michael.

At Centralia

South Central handed Centralia Raccoon two losses in junior high boys action Monday evening.

South Central moved into a 17-9 halftime lead and had a 22-20 second half for a 39-29 seventh-grade win.

Tockstein led the way for the winners with 17 points on eight field goals and a free throw.

In the eighth-grade contest, South Central won 59-29. South Central stepped out to a 24-7 opening quarter lead and led 43-11 at halftime.

Colton Cartright and Eli Heistand were the one-two scoring punch for the winners. Cartright led with 17 while Hiestand added 16.
