Effingham St. Anthony's season came to a close in the Class 7-2A St. Anthony Girls Basketball Regional Monday.

The team fell to top-seeded Paris Crestwood, 24-12.

The Bullpups stayed close through the first half, trailing 8-6 at halftime. But Paris Crestwood went on a 16-3 third quarter run and finished out with an 8-3 final period.

Crippes led Paris Crestwood with 20 points.

St. Anthony was led by Bella Schultz with five points.

In the second contest, Casey-Westfield downed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 16-5.

Paris Crestwood and Casey-Westfield will meet at 6 p.m. today for the regional championship.

Class 7-2A Edwards County (Albion) Regional

South Central edged Brownstown/St. Elmo in the Edwards County Regional Monday evening.

South Central was a 22-19 winner..

The second game went to Red Hill (Bridgeport) over Edwards County, 27-23.

South Central will now meet Red Hill at 6 p.m. Wednesday for the regional championship and the right to advance to the Casey-Westfield Sectional.

 

Class 7-4A Taylorville Regional

The top two seeds advanced to the championship game of the Taylorville Regional with victories Monday evening.

No. 1 seeded Mount Zion handed Mattoon a 28-12 loss in the first game Monday.

In the second contest, Taylorville, seeded second, won over Rochester, 30-15.

Mount Zion and Taylorville meet at 6 p.m. today for the regional championship.
