Teutopolis picked up both victories over Effingham in junior high boys basketball Thursday evening.

The Wooden Shoes ran out to a 15-0 lead in the seventh-grade contest and went on for a 32-15 victory. Kale Goeckner led the way for T-town with eight points.

Effingham was led by Jenner Pals with seven points.

In the eighth-grade contest, T-town held a 30-19 halftime lead. Effingham came back with a 14-9 second half but fell 39-33.

Jake Probst led the way for the Shoes with 23 points.

Pals tallied 14 for the Mustangs.

At Effingham

Effingham St. Anthony picked up two victories over Newton St. Thomas Thursday.

The Bullpups captured a 50-19 seventh-grade contest. St. Anthony held a 20-7 halftime lead then had a 23-8 third period run. In that third quarter run, Blake Verdeyen scored 12 points.

Verdeyen led the way for the Bullpups with 22 points on 10 field goals and two of two at the line. Curtis Tingley connected on two three-pointers and scored two regular baskets for 10 points.

St. Thomas was led by Hermann with six points.

In eighth-grade action, St. Anthony broke a 10-10 opening quarter tie with a 13-10 second period to lead at halftime. St. Anthony then had a 23-10 second half.

Cooper Sehy scored 15 points to lead the way.

St. Thomas was led by Fulton with 15.

At Kinmundy

Effingham Sacred Heart and South Central both picked up a victory Thursday.

The Shamrocks won the seventh-grade contest, 43-20. Sacred Heart held a 17-11 halftime lead then had an 18-1 third quarter run.

Gabe Traub led the way with 12 points while Bryce Hayes added 11.

South Central was led by Hoover and Strobel with five points each.

The eighth-grade contest went to South Central. The winners led 28-21 at halftime then had a 21-17 second half.

Hiestand led with 22 points while Cartright added 11.

Mason Karolewicz and Owen Schuette had nine points each for the Shamrocks.

At Dieterich

North Clay (Louisville) was a winner in the seventh-grade contest while Dieterich captured the eighth-grade game Thursday evening.

North Clay was a 30-19 winner in the seventh-grade contest. North Clay held a 17-6 halftime lead then held off Dieterich in the second half for the win.

Lewis led the way for the winners with 15 points.

Dieterich was led by Goeckner with 10.

In eighth-grade competition, Dieterich defeated North Clay, 36-30. North Clay held a 9-6 opening quarter lead and still led 13-12 at hafltime.

North Clay was ahead 26-18 going into the final quarter. Dieterich then mounted a furious comeback, outscoring North Clay 18-4 to pull out the victory.

Emery Langford led the way for Dieterich with 12 points while Alex Schottman added eight.
