COWDEN -- BrownstownSt. Elmo tallied two victories over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in girls junior high basketball action Thursday.

BSE was a 34-6 winner in the seventh-grade contest. BSE held a 4-0 opening quarter lead then pushed that to 13-2 at halftime. BSE then had a 14-2 third period run.

CHBC was led by Valentina Doty with eight points.

In eighth-grade action, BSE edged CHBC, 31-29. BSE ran out to an 18-0 opening quarter lead but CHBC came roaring back with a 13-1 second quarter to trail 19-13 at halftime. CHBC outscored the visitors 16-12 in the second half but it wasn't enough.

CHBC was led by Allison Shields with 12 points.
