Sigel St. Michael, Stewardson-Strasburg and North Clay (Louisville) were winners Wednesday in the National Trail Conference Eighth-Grade Girls Basketball Tournament.

Top-seeded St. Michael handed Neoga a 49-12 loss in the opener.

The Sharpshooters ripped out to a 22-0 opening quarter lead and led 39-4 at halftime. Kaelyn Ordner led the way with 18 points. Nora Bueker added eight.

Neoga was led by Fitzpatrick with four.

In the second contest, Stew-Stras claimed a 27-15 victory over Brownstown/St. Elmo.

Stew-Stras edged out to a 5-2 opening quarter lead and led 12-6 at halftime.

Karly Wetherell led in scoring with 10 points while Jackie Vonderheide added six.

BSE was led by Barker with 13 points.

North Clay then downed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 37-20.

North Clay held a 21-8 halftime lead and led 37-10 after three quarters.

The winners were led by Zink with 10 points and Pontious with seven.

CHBC was led by Carissa Wakefield with nine points.

The tournament continues tonight in winner bracket action as St. Michael meets Altamont at 6 p.m. followed by Stew-Stras taking on North Clay at 7:15. The winners advance to the championship game Saturday at 11:30 a.m. while the losers will play for third place at 10:15 a.m.

Friday's games will have Neoga taking on South Central at 6 followed by Brownstown/St. Elmo against Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City at 7:15. The winners of those two games square off for the consolation championship Saturday at 9 a.m.
