Seventh-Grade NTC Tourney, Regular Season -- Oct. 21

The Sharpshooters defeated Neoga 39-22 in the title contest.

In the third place game, Brownstown/St. Elmo won over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 28-18.

Dieterich won the consolation championship with a 17-9 win over Effingham Sacred Heart.

Dieterich was led by Claire Faller with nine points, Kensi Stortzum with four and Lexie Funneman and Vaelyn Smith with two each.

In Friday play, Sacred Heart won over North Clay 14-11 and Dieterich defeated Altamont 28-18.

Dieterich was led by Faller with 10 points, Stortzum with six, Funneman, Violet Iffert and Lydia Kreke with four each.

At Taylorville

Teutopolis squared off against Mahomet-Seymour and Taylorville Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes claimed two victories over Mahomet-Seymour. The seventh-grade team won 48-18, ripping out to a 20-0 opening quarter lead.

Maggie Drees scored 13 points while Lexi Hoene added nine.

In eighth-grade competition, T-town led 11-9 at halftime then had a 7-3 third quarter run and finished out with a 27-16 victory.

Avery Probst led the way with 10 points.

T-town then took on Taylorville and split victories.

The seventh-grade squad was a 45-12 winner, leaping out to a 16-1 opening quarter lead and leading 27-5 at halftime.

Drees scored 11 while Grace Martin tallied 10 for the winners who remained unbeaten at 11-0.

In eighth-grade play, Taylorville edged the Shoes, 25-23. Taylorville held an 18-14 lead at halftime. T-town came roaring back with an 8-0 third quarter to pull ahead 22-18 going into the final quarter. But Taylorville rallied for a 7-1 run and the win.

A. Probst scored seven for the Shoes who are now 7-4 on the season.
