OBLONG -- Effingham St. Anthony grabbed two victories over Oblong in junior high girls basketball action Thursday.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade contest, 26-5 rushing out to a 9-2 opening half lead and outscoring Oblong 17-3 in the second half.

Sylvia Semple scored nine points to lead the Bullpups.

In eighth-grade play, St. Anthony tallied a 25-18 win. The score was tied at 9-9 at halftime then the Bullpups held Oblong scoreless while moving ahead by 12 points in the third quarter.

Carly Budde led the way for St. Anthony with 10 points.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis was a winner in both seventh- and eighth-grade action Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes improved to 2-0 in seventh-grade play with a 43-3 victory over Vandalia. T-town held a 27-1 halftime lead.

Stella Deters, Lily Kreke and Rose Brummer led the way with six points each.

In eighth-grade action, T-town won over Vandalia by a 47-13 count. The Shoes led 28-3 at halftime.

Emma Vahling scored 12 points and Avery Probst eight.

At Dieterich

Dieterich won two games while North Clay (Louisville) claimed one in girls junior high victories Thursday.

Dieterich downed North Clay 20-10 in the seventh-grade contest. Melanie Niemerg led with 10 points. Lexie Funneman led in rebounds with four.

In the eighth-grade game, North Clay was a 34-14 winner.

Lydia Kreke was the leading scorer with six points and had eight rebounds along with Emery Bill.

In the sixth-grade game, Dieterich won 22-8 over North Clay.

Dieterich was led by Lydia Kreke with six points and Emery BIll and Kreke with eight rebounds each.

At Beecher City

Cowden-Herrick split victories with South Central Thursday.

CHBC won the seventh-grade contest 24-20 in overtime. South Central held an 8-6 halftime lead but Dieterich tied in the third quarter at 12-12 then the two teams played to a 7-7 fourth quarter sending the contest into overtime.

South Central was led by Jones with 12 points.

CHBC improved to 3-1 in the National Trail Conference and 4-1 overall.

In eighth-grade action, South Central came out a 26-24 winner.

South Central took a 14-10 halftime lead then had to hold off CHBC in the second half.

Brown scored 11 for the winners.

CHBC was led by Briley Kirkendoll with eight. CHBC dropped to 2-2 in the conference, 2-3 overall.

At Beecher city

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg and Brownstown/St. Elmo split victories Thursday night.

BSE was a 27-9 winner in the seventh-grade game. WSS held a 17-3 halftime lead.

Si. Mason led the way with nine points while Sa. Mason tallied eight for BSE.

WSS was led by Emma Brehmer, Maddy Manhart, Karsyn Morris and Jocelyn French scored two each.

In the eighth-grade game, Windsor/Stew-Stras claimed a 45-23 win.

Edie Wittenberg led the way with 16 points while Jackie Vonderheide added 10.

BSE was led by Barker with seven.

Windsor/Stew-Sras improved to 3-0 in the conference, 4-0 overall.
