EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE men's basketball Head Coach Brian Barone has completed the overhaul of his staff with the promotion of Colin Schneider to Associate Head Coach.

Schneider is in his fifth season on the SIUE staff, first serving as two seasons as the Director of Basketball Operations, before being promoted to an assistant coach in July 2021.

"Colin has a hand in everything involving our program," Barone said. "He has been by my side since I became head coach at SIUE and elevating Colin to Associate Head

Coach goes far beyond his ability to coach on the sidelines"
Schneider has been involved in all facets of the Cougars program, including film, travel and practice and game-planning.

"I'm extremely grateful to Coach Barone and the SIUE athletic administration's belief in my career growth," Schneider said. "Coach Barone has built an incredible foundation and 'Find A Way' culture that is humbling to be a part of. My goal is to positively impact this group and department in our daily quest of championships and success both on and off the court. My family and I love being a part of the Edwardsville and SIUE community and are excited to continue to grow.

Prior to SIUE, Schneider spent three seasons as the Head Video Coordinator with the Sacramento Kings, where he assisted the coaching staff with all video operations including preparing scouting videos and game plans for each opponent. He was also an assistant coach for the Kings' summer league entry. Prior to his time in Sacramento, he was the Assistant Video Coordinator for the Memphis Grizzlies.

"Behind the scenes Colin is a huge part of our program's upward trajectory," Barone added. "I have seen Colin grow as a coach ever since I first worked with him at Green Bay and witnessed his basketball development as he spent five years in the NBA with the Memphis Grizzlies and Sacramento Kings. He brings a wealth of basketball knowledge along with a day-to-day grind that is needed to be successful in our business. I look forward to continuing to grow SIUE Basketball each day with this staff in place."
Not a stranger to Division I basketball, Schneider was the Director of Basketball Operations for Green Bay for three seasons, overseeing the program's budget, travel, student-workers, film exchange, on-campus recruiting, scouting reports, practice planning and video editing. He also spent three seasons as a student assistant for the Phoenix.

Schneider earned a bachelor's degree in urban and regional studies from Wisconsin-Green Bay in 2010 and a master's in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University-Irvine in 2013.

Schneider is a native of New Holstein, Wisconsin. He and his wife, Maura, have four sons, Crosby, Briggson and twins Creighton and Breccan born in April 2023.
