ST. ELMO -- North Clay (Louisville) and South Central will square off for the championship of the St. Elmo/Brownstown Freshman/Sophomore Boys Basketball Tournament after weekend action.

In Saturday's play, South Central defeated Okaw Valley, 62-16; North Clay won over St. Elmo/Brownstown, 55-39; Dieterich edged Okaw Valley, 35-33; North Clay defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 48-31; South Central downed Dieterich 51-34 and St. Elmo/Brownstown defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 47-35.

Today's contests will feature North Clay against South Central at 8 p.m. for the championship, St. Elmo/Brownstown meeting Dieterich at 6:30 for third place and CHBC against Okaw Valley at 5:15 p.m. for fifth place.

 

Hillsboro Freshman Tournament

Effingham claimed an opening round victory over Hillsboro, 52-25 in the Hillsboro Freshman Tournament Saturday.

The Hearts took a 14-8 opening quarter lead and led 30-11 at halftime. EHS had a 22-14 second half.

Wendling led EHS with 10 points while Meltaberger added nine.

EHS will meet either Auburn or Greenville tonight at 7:15 in winner bracket play.
