NEOGA -- Neoga took the early lead and never looked back in a 76-55 victory over North Clay (Louisville) as two National Trail Conference boys basketball teams clashed Tuesday evening.

The Indians edged out to a 14-12 opening quarter lead and pushed that to 29-21 at halftime. Neoga then had an 18-10 third quarter and outscored the Cardinals 29-24 in the final period.

Quintin Richards led Neoga with 33 points on 10 field goals, three from three-point range, and 10 of 12 at the line. Also in double figures was Brady Reynolds with 17. He connected on six field goals, four of those three-pointers, and was one of one at the line.

The Indians finished with 12 of 18 from the free throw line and had eight three-pointers in the game.

North Clay was led by Alex Boose with 22 points on nine field goals, one from three-point range, and three of five at the line. Logan Fleener chipped in with 16. The Cardinals hit eight of 14 free throws and had three trifectas. North Clay is 4-2 in the National Trail Conference, 16-8 overall.

In the junior varsity game, North Clay edged Neoga, 46-44. North Clay was led by Carter Walden with 12, Mason Byers with 11 and Jesse Weidner with 11. Neoga was led by Ray with 16.

At St. Elmo

St. Elmo/Brownstown was the early leader but Dieterich came back to move ahead 33-25 at halftime.

The two teams battled in the second half and finished with a 56-56 tie at the end of regulation, sending the game into overtime.

St. Elmo/Brownstown then had an 17-5 overtime run to pull out the 73-61 victory. In that overtime period, Adam Atwood hit two baskets and two free throws while Caleb Campbell hit four of four free throws, Cade Schaub put in two baskets and Jarrett Pasley connected on a three-pointer.

The Eagles shot 53 percent from the field and 73 percent at the line with 19 of 26.

Despite shooting poorly from the field with 39 percent, the Maroons made 13 of 16 free throws for 81 percent and connected on eight of 14 from three-point range for 57 percent.

St. Elmo/Brownstown had three players finish in double digits. Pasley led the way with 23 points while Atwood added 21 and Schaub 16. Atwood led in rebounds with seven, assists with five and steals with five. SEB is 2-3 in the conference, 16-7 overall.

Dieterich was led by Lucas Westendorf with 25 points and Kolton Kidd with 10. Westendorf pulled down nine rebounds while Caleb Gephart added six. Gephart led in assists with six and had two blocked shots. Westendorf led in steals with five.

At Flora

Altamont broke a 12-12 opening quarter tie with an 8-3 second period and never looked back in a 60-28 win over host Flora Tuesday.

The Indians led 20-15 at halftime then led 38-26 going into the final quarter and went on a 22-2 tear.

Two players finished in double figures for the Indians while nine scored in the contest. Dillon Elam led the way with 19 points on seven field goals that included five three-pointers. Avery Jahraus added 13 points.

The Indians finished with 10 three-pointers with Elam's five and three from Avery Jahraus and one each from Jared Hammer and Kaidyn Miller.

Altamont now stands at 20-3 on the season.

The Indians also claimed the junior varsity game, 54-40.

At Teutopolis

The Wooden Shoes of Teutopolis sports a 16-5 record after downing Newton, 69-49 Tuesday evening.

The two teams played to a fast-paced 22-22 opening quarter. The Eagles moved ahead 37-32 at halftime.

But, here came Teutopolis. The Wooden Shoes owned the second half, scoring 23 points for a 55-43 lead going into the final period then finishing with a 14-6 run.

Brendan Niebrugge led the way for T-town with 28 points on 11 field goals, five of those three-pointers, and one of two at the line. James Niebrugge finished with 15 points.

The Shoes had eight three-pointers in the game and were nine of 12 at the line.

Newton was led by Caden Nichols with 20 points on nine field goals, one a three-pointer, and one of one at the line. Also in double figures were Parker Wolf with 11 and Dylan Gier with 10.

T-town improved to 16-5 on the season.

Cumberland held a 33-17 halftime lead on Cerro Gordo/Bement and went on for a 57-31 victory Tuesday evening.

The Pirates' Gavin Hendrix scored nine of the team's 18 points in the opening quarter on four baskets and a free throw. Bryant Weber connected on a three-pointer.

In the second period, Hendrix tallied six points while Trevin Magee added five and the Pirates led 33-17 at halftime.

Hendrix finished with 21 points on 10 field goals and one of one at the line while Magee added 11.

Cumberland hit 11 of 13 free throws.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City took a 20-8 opening quarter lead and went on for a 74-45 win over Mulberry Grove Tuesday evening.

Five players scored for the Bobcats in that opening period run led by Clayton Wojcik with six points.

The lead went to 40-22 at halftime as Trevor Thies scored six points and Carter Bain, Carsen Underwood and Kaidyn Calame hit a three-pointer each.

The Bobcats had a 34-23 second half for the winning margin.

Four players hit double digits for the winners. AJ Radloff led the way with 15 points scoring eight in the third period. He hit five field goals and was five of seven at the line. Calame added 14, Thies 12 and Bain 10.

At Pana

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg lost a heart-breaker by a point Tuesday evening at Pana, 41-40.

Windsor/Stew-Stras edged ahead 13-11 in the opening quarter but Pana came back to take a 26-23 lead at halftime.

The Hatchets had a 13-6 third quarter run to lead 36-32 going into the final period. That's when Pana came back with a 9-4 final quarter to pull out the victory.

Carter Chaney led the way with 11 points. The Hatchets drop to 18-8 on the season while Pana improved to 13-11.

Pana also claimed the junior varsity game, 58-30.

Windsor/Stew-Stras is back in action Friday hosting Mulberry Grove.
