CASEY -- Altamont High School had a 36-30 lead going into the final quarter and held off Casey-Westfield for a 48-47 boys basketball victory Tuesday evening.

Casey-Westfield held an 8-4 opening quarter lead on the Indians. Dillan Elam and Avery Jahraus had the lone two baskets for Altamont.

Altamont still trailed at halftime but by only a basket, 22-20. Kienon Eirhart got on track with seven points in the quarter while Mason Robinson added six.

Jahraus and Robinson went on a tear in the third quarter. Jahraus hit two three-pointers and a regular basket for eight points while Robinson connected on two baskets and two free throws for six as the Indians moved ahead 36-30.

Robinson connected on two free throws with 12 seconds in the contest to push the Indians up by four points. Casey-Westfield came back with an uncontested three-pointer at the buzzer for the final tally.

Robinson led the way for Altamont with 15 points while Jahraus added 10 and Eirhart chipped in with nine. The Indians are now 6-3 on the season.

In the junior varsity game, Altamont captured a 58-55 victory. The Indians were led by Kaidyn Miller with 16 and Aden McManaway with 14.

At Louisville

North Clay held the lead and downed Cisne, 78-63 in Tuesday evening action.

The Cardinals took a 19-16 first quarter lead and led 40-27 at halftime. Cisne came back with a 21-17 third quarter but North Clay had a 21-15 final period.

Four players hit double digits for the Cardinals. Logan Fleener led the way with 25 points on 11 field goals, one a three-pointerm and two of two at the line. Levi Smith added 15 while Cody Zimdars and Alex Boose scored 14 points each.

Cisne's Anden Atwood scored 29 points and went over 1,000 points for his career.

North Clay is now 9-4 on the season. The Cardinals also won the junior varsity game, 34-26. Jesse Weidner led North Clay with nine points.

At Bethany

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg went double overtime before downing Okaw Valley, 62-57 Tuesday evening.

The Hatchets edged out to a 19-17 opening quarter lead and led 29-25 at halftime. WSS then had an 11-10 third period to lead 40-35 going into the final period.

Okaw Valley came back with a 14-9 run to tie the score at 49-49. The two teams both tallied eight points in the first overtime period before Windsor/Stew-Stras pulled out the victory with a 5-0 second OT run.

Austin Wittenberg led the way with 23 points on six field goals, one a three-pointer and 12 free throws. Jordan Wittenberg finished with 19 on five field goals and nine free throws. Jackson Gurgel hit three three-pointers for nine points.

Windsor/Stew-Stras improved to 10-2 on the season while Okaw Valley dropped to 3-6.

The Hatchets also claimed the junior varsity game, 41-34.

At Martinsville

Cumberland edged Martinsville, 46-45 Tuesday evening with a big comeback in the final quarter.

The Bluestreaks held a 13-7 opening quarter lead and led 25-16 at halftime.

The Pirates had a slight 15-12 third quarter run as Gavin Hendrix knocked in four baskets for eight points. Cumberland trailed 37-31.

Then in the final quarter Hendrix went on another run, this one four baskets and two free throws for 10 of his team's 15 points while Blake McMechan hit a three-pointer and a regular basket and the Pirates pulled out the win.

Hendrix finished with 27 points on 12 field goals and three of six at the line. McMechan tallied nine.

At Martinsville

At Sandoval

South Central tallied a 20-point non-conference victory over Sandoval in Tuesday evening action.

The Cougars stepped out to a 21-16 opening quarter lead behind Aidan Dodson's 13 points. Dodson connected on five field goals and was three of five at the line. Ethan Watwood was the other contributor scoring. Watwood hit two three-pointers and was two of two at the line for eight points.

The lead went to 49-29 at halftime as Dodson added on to his total with five field goals, one a three-pointer, for 11 points.

Watwood took over in the third quarter run as the two teams played to a 20-20 tie. Watwood scored two regular baskets and two three-pointers for 10 points. Dodson chipped in two three-pointers.

Dodson tallied 33 points on 13 field goals, three from three-point range, and four of seven at the line. Watwood added 25 on nine field goals, five from three-point land, and two of two at the line.

South Central is now 6-4 on the season. The Cougars also claimed the junior varsity contest.

At Charleston

Newton came through in overtime with a 10-5 run to claim a 63-58 win over Charleston Tuesday.

The two teams were tied at 13-13 in the opening quarter before Newton took a 28-24 lead at halftime.

Newton led 45-38 going into the final period when the Trojans came through with a 15-8 run to knot the score at 53-53.

Two players scored in double figures for Newton. Caden Nichols led the way with 25 points while Parker Wolf added 20. Nichols hit eight field goals, five of those from three-point range, and was four of five at the line. Wolf connected on seven field goals, three trifectas and three of six at the line.

The Eagles improved to 10-2 on the season.

At St. Elmo

Affton, Mo. came callng and claimed an 80-75 victory over St. Elmo/Brownstown Tuesday evening.

Affton took a 26-21 opening quarter lead and led 42-38 at halftime. Afton continued its run with a 15-13 third quarter.

SEB came back with a 24-23 final period but couldn't make up that early deficit.

Affton connected on 60 percent from the field while SEB was hitting 46 percent. Affton also was hot from the free throw line with 76 percent on 13 of 17. SEB hit 83 percent with 20 of 24.

Jarrett Pasley had an outstanding game with 31 points on nine field goals, five from three-point range, and eight of nine from the free throw line. Also in double figures were Caleb Campbell with 16 and Cade Schaub with 13. Schaub led in rebounds with eight. Adam Atwood had four assists and two steals. Pasley had two steals.

At St. Elmo

Neoga took the early lead on Shelbyville but couldn't hold on and fell, 57-20 in Tuesday evening action.

Neoga led 12-10 after the opening quarter as Brady Reynolds connected on two three-pointers. But Shelbyville came back with a 12-2 second quarter to lead 22-14 at halftime.

The Rams then had a 20-6 third quarter and held the Indians scoreless in the final period with a 15-0 run.

Neoga was led by Reynolds and Trey Sheehan with six points each.
